Women have been supporting laboring women in childbirth for centuries.  Studies show the presence of a doula during birth positively impacts the birthing process.

A doula:
  • provides continuous non medical, physical and emotional support
  • supports women in various birthing situations: in hospital, birth center and home
  • helps to explore her birthing options
  • focuses on what is most important to the mother
  • provides support and guidance to the birth partner while they support the mother
  • helps mom to feel safe, secure and confident as she journeys from pregnancy to motherhood
  • provides evidence-based informational support

About the Workshop and Trainer
Celeste Rachell has been training doulas on Long Island since 2001. Her workshops are interactive and informative in a warm and welcoming environment. You will learn about your role during each of the stages of labor, comfort measures, positioning and massage techniques,  providing emotional support to the entire family, hospital protocols, and your role in the early postpartum period. The certification course will also include business strategies, how to build your clientele and connecting to your birth community.
