WE ARE HERE TO HELP

LIDAs membership is comprised of local practitioners whose practice focuses on supporting mothers, families, and children on their journey.

We provide resources and events for Long Island families.

WHAT IS A BIRTH DOULA?

A Birth Doula is a trained professional who assists the family before, during, and immediately after the birth of their baby. They are trained professionals who provide continuous physical, emotional and educational support to parents before, during and shortly after childbirth to help them achieve a healthy, enjoyable birth experience. Some Doulas are trained, while others are certified, certified doulas usually have CBD or CD as their credentials.

WHAT IS A POSTPARTUM DOULA?

Postpartum Doulas are trained professionals who assist a family in the first days, weeks, and sometimes months after the birth or adoption of a baby. A postpartum doula provides support for the parents, as well as information on infant feeding, soothing methods, and basic newborn care. Some postpartum doulas also provide overnight support. Some Postpartum Doulas are trained, while others are certified, certified postpartum doulas usually have CD or CPD as their credentials.
